GifBoom App

I’ve been playing with the app GifBoom in the last few days and trying to figure out how to get it to work well. It’s a bit like instagram in terms of how sharing works, but with a series of GIF images you can (found here http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gifboom-animated-photos/id457502693?ls=1&mt=8)

If you have an i-phone/i-pod it’s worth a try to play with. On my i-pod, which doesn’t have the greatest resolution of camera, the results haven’t been spectacular, but there’s potential (currently I’ve accidentally posted the same photo of Algernon swimming 8 times). To see this idea done beautifully, check out photographer Jamie Beck’s blog, From Me To You, where she uses a similar idea of photography called a cinemagraph (http://fromme-toyou.tumblr.com/)
